According to the report of the agency, for the period from January 1 to May 31, in Antalya, the largest city in Turkey where foreign tourists are received, 2,415,305 tourists arrived by air in the coastal city in 5 months of 2022, which is 223% more than the same period last year. Recall that in 2021, Turkish resorts were not available to Russian tourists for half of April and May due to covid restrictions. In May 2022, 1.198.110 tourists arrived, which is 297% more than in the same month last year.
German tourists have taken the first place this year - they have been the majority in Antalya resorts since the beginning of the year, despite the fact that in recent years the southern Turkish city has received the most tourists from Russia. According to experts, the alignment was influenced by the events taking place in Ukraine.
The country with the largest number of holidaymakers in Antalya over the 5-month period was Germany, which accounted for the delivery of 595.837 tourists. In second place is Russia and 367.749 tourists. The third place belongs to Great Britain with 282.92 tourists. Ukraine, which in previous years was in the top 3, dropped out of the ranking this year. Other countries sending the most tourists to Antalya in 5 months were the Netherlands, Poland, Israel, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, Iran, and Denmark.
