The settlement system in rubles is expanding in Antalya, Turkey. There are no problems with the Russian currency in the Mediterranean resort now, the head of the Antalya Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIA) Davut Cetin told TASS on Wednesday.
“Currently, in Antalya, you can travel for rubles, and make purchases with them, Russian currency is accepted in hotels. There are no problems with this,” the source said.
According to Cetin, the Turkish authorities are working to expand the volume of settlements in national currencies based on an intergovernmental agreement signed with the Russian Federation in 2019. “We are working on it, there are several problems, including those related to the compensation of exchange rate differences during conversion. It can be solved through barter,” the businessman added.
In 2021, about 3.6 million Russian tourists rested in Antalya, the Mayor of the Turkish resort Muhittin Bocek told TASS. According to him, Antalya will be happy to receive the same number of guests from the Russian Federation this year. The Turkish authorities initially expected to receive up to 7 million Russian tourists in 2022, but due to the Ukrainian crisis, this figure was reduced to 3.5 million people.
