LAVENDER FESTIVAL STARTED IN THE WEST OF TURKEY
- 14 July 2022
In the Keciborlu region of the Turkish province of Isparta, the Lavender Festival will be held from July 22 to 24.
Lavender fields near the village of Kuyudzhak have turned purple since the end of June.
Governor of Isparta Aydin Barush personally visited the lavender fields, which have been cultivated since the 70s of the last century.
According to him, the province of Isparta is the leader in terms of production of this type of plant in Turkey.
Touching upon the topic of organizing a lavender festival, the governor said that the event was held to popularize the region.
The governor expressed his hope that the festival will receive a large number of visitors.
“In 2016, the festival was attended by 20 thousand people, and in 2019 this figure reached 750 thousand. Of course, over the past two years, there has been a certain decrease in the number of tourists, which is associated with the pandemic. I hope that this year we will return to the indicators of 2019,” Barush said.
