BANK CARDS IN TÜRKİYE

Turkey is gradually “rolling out” the acceptance of Mir cards on its territory: at the end of May, a fourth large bank joined the reception of Russian cards. In the season, experts expect further expansion of the Mir reception network, without any official announcements.

Recall that in Turkey in 2022, three banks have already launched acceptance of Mir cards - Ziraat Bankası, Vakıfbank, and Iş Bankası.

On May 24, a fourth bank was added to these three banks: Denizbank began accepting cards from the Russian payment system Mir in its network of ATMs and terminals.

“As we continue to support tourism for many years, we aim to heal the wounds inflicted on the tourism industry by the coronavirus pandemic. Therefore, in May we started accepting Mir cards in the POS-terminal and ATM networks and Denizbank, integrating them into our payment ecosystem. Thanks to this integration, our partners - trade, and service enterprises, and in particular those operating in tourist regions, will be able to easily receive payments from Russian tourists. Thus, we contribute to the formation of an important source of income for the economy of our country. We will continue to work towards a strong future for Turkey's tourism and economy,” said Mr. Hikirkiran.

According to available information from the bank's releases, Denizbank's POS-terminal network now has about 200 devices in retail outlets, the ATM network is also large - 3,500 ATMs.

According to a source of Vestnik ATOR from the Turkish banking industry, now the bank has connected almost all of its ATMs to the reception of Mir, but the connection of terminals in stores is gradual - therefore, somewhere Russian cards may not be accepted.
